Malaprops and their friends
Since my master’s degree, I’ve been working on projects related to things like malaprops (aka malapropisms), eggcorns, mondegreens, folk etymologies, homophones (especially ones that are homophonous in some dialects but not others), and more. I’m curious about how these things are perceived, produced, and propagated. These are huge questions and it’s not every day that you get to unite historical linguistics, dialectology, and psycholinguistics.
